Grain Belt Express Open Solicitation
On March 12, 2024, Grain Belt Express LLC launched an Open Solicitation process for transmission capacity on the Grain Belt Express.
Connecting four states across 800 miles, Grain Belt Express is a transmission line carrying more affordable, reliable power to the Midwest, and delivering renewable clean electricity to homes and businesses. Phase 1 will be a transmission solution with the capacity to deliver up to 2,500 MW of energy to northeastern Missouri, primarily from renewable energy sources in southwest Kansas.
Through the Open Solicitation process, Grain Belt Express LLC intends to negotiate contracts with qualified parties for firm transmission rights at negotiated rates. Of prospective customers who submit Expressions of Interest, Grain Belt Express LLC may engage in negotiations with these parties, with the objective of executing one or more transmission service agreements based on mutually agreed-upon rates, terms, and conditions. Grain Belt Express LLC encourages interested parties to submit a non‑binding Expression of Interest, before the response deadline on April 12, 2024 at 5PM Eastern Time.
Prospective customers should be aware that Grain Belt Express LLC’s Open Solicitation process could result in the initial allocation of up to 800 MW of Grain Belt Express’ Phase 1 transmission line capacity.

The electricity available to the local utility or co-op serving your home or business is managed regionally in power pools — or grids — that cover large areas. Those pools are shown in the map above.
Grain Belt Express will connect these markets, improving affordability and reliability for consumers across these regions.
